Capitol to release Jonny Greenwood's Bodysong in America in February
Capitol will release Jonny Greenwood's Bodysong in North America on 24 February 2004. Parlophone put it out in the rest of the world in late October.
Only two of its 13 pieces have guitar on them. Jonny leaned instead on the instruments of modern jazz, and the guest players include his brother Colin and the Emperor String Quartet.
He wrote it in 2002, while the band took a break after the Kid A and Amnesiac sessions, working at their Oxford studio with Radiohead's engineer Graeme Stewart. He told The Independent last month how he went about it.
Simon Pummell's film, a collage of a century of footage with no dialogue, opens in British cinemas on 5 December, and a US release for it is still being arranged. Last week it was named best British documentary at the British Independent Film Awards.
Most film scoring, Jonny said in the summer, means click tracks, cues that make their point in about 20 seconds and room left for the dialogue. This wasn't true with 'Bodysong,' which meant I could let musicians play at tempos that felt right.
