Radiohead give “Meeting in the Aisle” to MTV's Need To Talk films

first posted on Treefingers by Miro · rewritten for the archive

Radiohead have handed over one of their recordings for young film-makers to use in short films about mental health. The track is “Meeting in the Aisle”, recorded during the OK Computer sessions, and the band have given it free of charge.

The scheme is Need To Talk, an MTV campaign run with the charities Samaritans and Mind Out For Mental Health. Young British film-makers are asked to make a film or animation of 30 to 60 seconds that interprets or answers the phrase “need to talk”. The track can be downloaded from MTV's website, and entries close on 25 April.

Phil Selway is a Samaritans volunteer himself.

When the biggest killer of young men in the UK is themselves, anything the band can do to draw attention to the issue of emotional health is worthwhile.
