Radiohead's OK Computer tops Channel 4's greatest albums poll

OK Computer has been voted the greatest album of all time in a Channel 4 poll for its programme 100 Greatest Albums, with around 400,000 people voting. The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the winner of a similar poll five years ago, slips to number seven, though The Beatles are the only act with two records in the top ten, Revolver being the other. Michael Jackson's Thriller is number four, and Nirvana's Nevermind and Oasis's Definitely Maybe make the ten as well.
The vote has sent buyers to Amazon. Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake, who did well in the poll, have reached the top of its Hot 100 music chart, and OK Computer has jumped hundreds of places to number 14, eight years after it came out.
In the Daily Mail's report, Michael Stipe says OK Computer is Radiohead really stretching and pushing the boundaries of what they think they're capable of doing
1. Johnny Marr calls it pretty much a landmark record
1, and expects it to look more important the further it gets from 1997.
