Thom Yorke compares the new Radiohead sessions to Kid A

written up for the archive

Thom Yorke has told NME.com that the early sessions for Radiohead's seventh album remind him of making Kid A, when the band changed the way they worked after OK Computer. It's going well. It's a bit like 'Kid A' – we're going through a period of change. But that's good. We'll get there1

The band have regrouped to rehearse and record songs for the follow-up to Hail to the Thief, which is not due until next year. NME names four songs in the running: “House of Cards”, “Glass Flowers”, “Reckoner” and “Arpeggi”. Yorke and Jonny Greenwood gave “Arpeggi” its first performance with the London Sinfonietta at the Royal Festival Hall in March. In April, at the Trade Justice protest in Methodist Central Hall, Yorke sang the new “House of Cards” and “Reckoner” alone, with an older song that NME now calls “Glass Flowers”.
