Kid A and Amnesiac reissues to carry Radiohead's 2001 Canal+ session
EMI/Capitol are to reissue Kid A, Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief as expanded Collectors Editions on 24 August in Europe and 25 August in North America. The bonus discs for Kid A and Amnesiac share out a performance never released before, the band's session for the French TV channel Canal+ in Paris on 28 April 2001. Seven of its songs are on one disc and six on the other.
Each album comes two ways, as a two-CD Collectors Edition (the album, plus a disc of B-sides, live tracks and radio and TV sessions) or as a Special Collectors Edition that adds a DVD of videos and TV performances. They follow the same treatment for Pablo Honey, The Bends and OK Computer in March.
Radiohead left EMI after Hail to the Thief and put out In Rainbows themselves in 2007. The label owns the recordings up to 2003, and the reissues are its project, not the band's. Capitol has already pressed the albums on 180-gram vinyl and put out 12 of the singles on vinyl. Last year Thom Yorke criticised the label for releasing a best-of without the band's consent.
Kid A had no singles, so its second disc has no B-sides. The Amnesiac disc gathers the B-sides of “Pyramid Song” and “Knives Out”, with the full-length “Life in a Glasshouse”.
Hail to the Thief gets the B-sides and remixes of its three singles, two radio sessions and the Earls Court “2 + 2 = 5” from COM LAG. Nothing on any of the sets is new studio material, and apart from the Canal+ session and the radio and TV performances it has all been out before.
