Radiohead play new song “Full Stop” in concert for the first time
Radiohead played their new song “Full Stop” in a concert for the first time on Sunday 10 June, in the first encore at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois, in the Chicago suburbs. When it ended, Thom Yorke told the crowd it would get better with age, like wine. Curt Baran, reviewing the night for Illinois Entertainer, took that as a joke, since to his ears it was a driving rock song that already sounded done.
Fans had heard it once before, from the band's soundcheck at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati on Tuesday 5 June, and a fan's rough recording of that was on the web within two days. The videos from Tinley Park are far clearer. On them the song starts slowly, over long held keyboard notes, until Phil Selway's drums come in.
It is the latest of the new songs this American tour has aired, after “Identikit” and “Cut a Hole”, both first played on the tour's opening night in Miami, and “Skirting on the Surface”. “Identikit” was played at Tinley Park too, in the second encore, though it was missing from the band's printed setlist. No release has been announced for any of them.
