Radiohead play South Korea for the first time, at Jisan Valley

written up for the archive

Radiohead headlined the Jisan Valley Rock Festival at the Jisan Forest Resort in Icheon on 27 July, their first concert in South Korea. The festival's organisers were the first promoters in the country to bring them over.

They opened with “Lotus Flower” and played for more than two hours, though a 90-minute set had been promised. Tor, reviewing the weekend for the magazine Chincha, called the set flawless and the sound excellent, with Thom Yorke bare-chested and his hair tied back. The reviewer's own highlights were “Kid A”, “Reckoner” and “15 Step”; the crowd was loudest for “There There”, “Idioteque” and “Exit Music (For a Film)”. The crowd called hard for more, and the band came back three times, ending on “Paranoid Android”.

Many in the crowd were sorry not to hear “Creep”, their best-known song in Korea.
