Radiohead confirm an August leg in North America
Radiohead have confirmed 11 North American shows for August, the same list their publicists sent out on 2 May and withdrew the next day, stressing that none was confirmed. The leg opens in Chicago on 1 August and closes at the Hollywood Bowl on 20 August, and it stops in some unusual places, among them the Suffolk Downs racetrack in Boston and Liberty State Park in Jersey City, across the river from Manhattan, for two nights.
The tour is timed to Amnesiac, out on Capitol in North America on 5 June. The June leg, announced on 1 May, is six dates, opening on 18 June outside Houston and ending with two nights at the Santa Barbara Bowl. Between the two legs the band go back to Europe and play South Park in Oxford on 7 July.
After Kid A Radiohead did not tour America fully. Ed O'Brien and Colin Greenwood gave an outline of this tour on the Los Angeles station KROQ on the morning of 20 February. They said it would open on the west coast in June, taking in Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco, and move east for about three weeks after a month off. That day the band's British spokesman said he knew of no confirmed American shows.
