Radiohead stop their Canal+ taping in Paris and start again
Radiohead taped a set for the French channel Canal+ at its studios in Paris tonight, walked off after seven songs, came back about ten minutes later and played the whole thing again from “Morning Bell”. They ended the night with a second go at the new single, “Pyramid Song”; NME reports that Thom Yorke was unhappy with the first take.
It was the band's first performance since a TV session at AIR Studios in London on 20 November. They played 22 songs counting the false start. Apart from an encore of Neil Young's “Cinnamon Girl”, which is being left out of the broadcast, every one came from Kid A or from Amnesiac, due in Britain on 4 June.
A brass section joined them for “The National Anthem”, and extra players on the ondes Martenot, the early electronic keyboard Jonny Greenwood plays, came on for “How To Disappear Completely” and “Pyramid Song”. “Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box” was played live for the first time.
