Radiohead close the North American tour at Toronto's SkyDome

Thom Yorke stopped Radiohead in the middle of “Myxomatosis” at Toronto's SkyDome on Wednesday 15 October when he saw that a fan had fainted, waited while security lifted the fan out of the pit, and took the band back in at the third verse. The show made up for the Molson Amphitheatre date of 16 August, postponed during the blackout and moved to the SkyDome, and it was the last night of the North American tour.

Kid Koala, the Montreal turntablist who also opened for Radiohead on their 2001 North American tour, played to the early arrivals as the stadium filled. In one piece he turned a single trumpet note into a whole solo over a slow blues by varying the speed of the deck.

Radiohead opened with five songs in a row from Hail to the Thief, starting with “The Gloaming”, and played 11 of the album's 14 in a set of 23. Two big screens ran grainy, twitching loops of Yorke cut in time with the music.

Chris Burland, reviewing the night for Chart Attack, thought the crowd cheered everything but would rather have heard more of the older songs than the moodier new ones. He picked out the noise of the break in “Paranoid Android”, and the crowd singing along to “Karma Police” and “Everything in Its Right Place” at the end of the second encore.
