DJ Panzah Zandahz cuts a Radiohead breaks 12-inch

The DJ and producer Panzah Zandahz has put out a limited-edition 12-inch, Radiohead; Breaks & Beats, built from the band's records. Talking to Rapnews.co.uk, he says the idea was to take favourite artists and rearrange them for DJs, picking out the parts of their work that could make breaks. A preview of “No Surprises” is on his website, where the record can be ordered.
Much of the material comes from OK Computer, with some from Hail to the Thief. Tracks he judged too complete were left alone: “The National Anthem” and “Idioteque”, he says, work as they are if a DJ plays two copies of the originals. He hopes turntablists will scratch and drum over it, DJs will use it behind MCs at shows, and a few passages will stand as listening on their own.
A friend, White Lotus, got him into the band, and it was Hail to the Thief that won him over after years of not seeing what the fuss was about. He worried listeners would take the 12-inch for more of an original production than it is, so he is making a mix CD, due later this year, that reconstructs their music with it and with remixes that did not make the record.
This is his first attempt. Depending on how much legal trouble it brings, he would like to do Beck, Björk and Rage Against the Machine next.
