He said so at a party the band gave in Los Feliz after the second of their two nights there, and Dani Katz, who was at the party with a friend, tells it in her LA Weekly column. The VIP boxes were plainly empty, Yorke said, and from the stage he could see people coming and going and kept wondering why they left.
He wanted to know whether they had really liked the new songs. He said it was strange to be putting out a solo album, called the promotion hateful and said he was shooting the first video on the Monday.
Katz had no ticket for the first night, on Thursday 29 June. She sat in the car park behind the backstage gate, among hundreds of others on blankets and beach chairs, as the band opened with “You and Whose Army?”. On the Friday she found a seat behind the sound desk and watched Yorke dance through “Myxomatosis”. He had not heard the car park from the stage, and when she told him about it he asked twice.
Really? In the parking lot?
