NME, carrying the text two days later, took it as his answer to the reviews of The Eraser, his first record under his own name, and said it had baffled fans. The record, out since 10 July, has entered the American chart at number two and is on the Nationwide Mercury Prize shortlist.

Further down, before the words of the record shop (category, sticker, list and position), come more lines a teacher might have written. lacks motivation. full of own self importance. always shooting his mouth off.2 The last line puts the subject in a graveyard. searches for own epitaph in graveyard.2

archivist’s note

The posting sets a word or two on each line; the quotes run it on, with Yorke's typing slips as he left them.
