Radiohead bring “Videotape” back in St. Louis
Radiohead played “Videotape” and “Lucky” for the first time on the tour at a sold-out Scottrade Center in St. Louis on Friday 9 March. Thom Yorke sat at the piano for “Videotape”, a song the band had not played since 2009.
Yorke lost the words in the second chorus of “Karma Police”. He sang a line joking about forgetting them, and the arena sang the chorus back to him. Allison Taich, reviewing the show for PopMatters, thought the band were going through the motions on the hit, and noticed that “Paranoid Android” stayed out of the set.
The show began with “Bloom”, Yorke dancing to its loop for a while before he started to sing, and ended two encores later with “You and Whose Army?” running into “Idioteque”. Taich found the arrangements close to the records. Her favourite moment was “There There”, with Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien swapping their guitars for toms to drum alongside Phil Selway and Clive Deamer, Colin Greenwood's bass underneath the four of them.
