A soundboard of Radiohead's 2006 Bonnaroo set surfaces online
A soundboard recording of Radiohead's whole headline set at Bonnaroo, played on 17 June 2006 at Manchester, Tennessee, has been spreading among fans in the last days of 2012. Scott Bernstein of Glide says it sounds very good and does the performance justice. Lossless copies have since turned up on a members-only trading tracker.
It is not an official release. The man who posted it says a friend running sound that night took a two-track stereo master off the desk, handed him the raw WAV file and agreed to it going public. He spent about two months mixing it, kept it to himself for five years and put it up as free downloads on a website of its own on the show's fifth anniversary, in June 2011. It sat there unnoticed for a year and a half, and now that it is spreading he warns the files could be pulled at any moment.
Radiohead played 28 songs that night, six of them not released until In Rainbows in October 2007: “15 Step”, “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi”, “Videotape”, “Nude”, “Bodysnatchers” and “House of Cards”. That August Thom Yorke told Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music that the set had been filmed and that the band were sitting on it because of all the new songs. No film has come out. He called the night my favourite gig for years and years and years
