If you’ve listened to his music and seen his imagery, you could come to the conclusion that he’s a very serious character.
1 When work on Tall Tales, their album on Warp, got tense, he says, Yorke was good at easing it with a joke at his own expense.
The two had met only once before the project began in 2020. Pritchard, who grew up in Somerset and has settled in Australia, remixed “Bloom” in 2011. The next year Clive Deamer, then Radiohead's second drummer, told him Yorke wanted to meet, and over dinner Yorke told him to send some material. That led to “Beautiful People” on Pritchard's 2016 album Under the Sun.
On “The Men Who Dance in Stag's Heads” Yorke sings the whole song in a low baritone, something Yorke had always wanted to do, Pritchard says. Varispeed helped him into character.
