Radiohead play Slim's, their first San Francisco club show
Radiohead played their first club show in San Francisco at Slim's on Sunday 11 July, and put “Creep” second, straight after the opener, “You”. The single is still climbing the Billboard chart, most of a club that holds about 500 had come to hear it, and the room roared.
The rest of the nine-song set was Pablo Honey, out in Britain since February, and two B-sides, “Banana Co.” and “Inside My Head”.
Michael Snyder reviews the night in today's San Francisco Chronicle. He hears a band who might build on one hit or vanish with it, and likes how far they range, from punk to glam.
Eric Luse photographed the show for the paper. The five are crowded together on a small stage, and Thom Yorke, in a striped long-sleeved shirt and with his hair bleached, sings with his eyes shut, pressed up against the microphone.
