Radiohead book a studio for August, the Pop Is Dead fanzine reports
Radiohead have booked a studio for August to start their second album, the news page of Pop Is Dead reports. The fan-run magazine, dated July and named after the band's May single, also expects another single in September or October.
In America, Pablo Honey is inside the Billboard top 100, MTV is playing the band heavily, and a Los Angeles show sold out in 20 minutes. They have turned down support slots with Duran Duran and The Cult because their own touring leaves no room, and Michael Hutchence of INXS is said to be a big fan of “Creep”. When the writer of one reprinted cutting suggests re-releasing the song, Ed O'Brien isn't having it.
Eh, no. That's a real cop-out.

The magazine's band history is candid about the spring tour, which ended before the single was in the shops and did not sell out everywhere. Jonny Greenwood was cut under one eye in Wolverhampton when he ran into Colin Greenwood's bass, and in Sheffield Thom Yorke opened with an attack on the press, then sang “Inside My Head” from among the audience. Two fans came from Japan, where nothing by Radiohead has been released.
The fanzine also reprints a cover story from December 1991, when the band were still On a Friday, in which Yorke traces “Nothing Touches Me” to an imprisoned artist who painted in his cell.
It also swears to the story from the “Pop Is Dead” video shoot, where Yorke was carried along in a glass coffin and the villagers watching took the filming for a pagan ritual.
