David Wrench pulls his anti-war EP, saying Radiohead refused “Creep”

first posted on Treefingers by Miro · rewritten for the archive

David Wrench, a musician from Anglesey in north Wales, has withdrawn his anti-war EP World War IV, saying in a January news post on his website that Radiohead refused permission for his cover of “Creep” to appear on it. He says he asked Thom Yorke in Manchester why. all he did was get angry and started shouting “do you know how hard I work?”1

Wrench, whose first solo album came out on Ankst in 1997, says he had genuinely believed the band would allow the song on an anti-war record. He signs off in capitals, calling them FAKE PLASTIC POP STARS.1
