Thom Yorke sings “The Gloaming” alone as Radiohead's Argentina show stops

Photo: Raph_PH · CC BY 2.0 · Wikimedia CommonsThom Yorke sang “The Gloaming” on his own, with no band and no accompaniment, while security mended the crowd barrier at Radiohead's show at Tecnópolis in Villa Martelli, on the edge of Buenos Aires, on Saturday 14 April. The crowd sang along with him and chanted.
It was the band's first show in Argentina since the Club Ciudad de Buenos Aires on 24 March 2009, and the second of their South American dates after Santiago.
The barrier in front of the stage gave way under the crowd pushing against it partway through the song, from Hail to the Thief, and the band stopped. Romina Zanellato of Indie Hoy says Yorke asked the people at the front to take a step back and to be patient while it was fixed so that nobody got hurt, and asked for water to be handed out to those pressed against the barrier. He laughed and talked with the audience through a stop of about 15 minutes. Once the barrier was repaired the band started “The Gloaming” again from the beginning and played it through.
