Radiohead bring back “Climbing Up the Walls” at the O2

Radiohead played “Climbing Up the Walls” for the first time in seven years on Monday 24 November, the third of their four nights at the O2 Arena in London and a sell-out. It came second to last in the main set, before “Bodysnatchers” closed it, in a new, distorted arrangement that Relix likens to dub. Only “Kid A” and “Talk Show Host”, both on 17 November in Bologna, had joined the tour since Madrid.

“Planet Telex” opened, as it has at six dates. The band have been alternating two sets, one starting with “Planet Telex” and the other with “2 + 2 = 5”, which has been played at all 11 shows so far. The second London show, on Saturday, was the set from the last Bologna night with “Bodysnatchers” in place of “There There”, and “Pyramid Song” had a false start when there was no bow for the guitar.

“Everything in Its Right Place” came in on a piece of Björk's “Unravel” and ran out long, and Chris Vatalaro, on auxiliary drums all night, added piano to “Just” near the end of the encore. Thom Yorke said nothing to the crowd beyond a thank-you after “Videotape”, Contactmusic reports. Einav Schiff, reviewing the night for Ynetnews, counted 25 songs in two hours for about 20,000 people, and thought “Just” more than made up for the missing “Creep”.
