written up for the archive

Radiohead played “Pyramid Song” on BBC One's Top of the Pops on Friday 25 May, their first performance in the programme's studio since “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” in February 1996, by the Top of the Pops Archive's count. When “Paranoid Android” and “No Surprises” were hits in 1997 and 1998, Top of the Pops made do with clips from Later... With Jools Holland.

The band taped the slot in London the week before, on 17 May, and recorded “Knives Out” at the same session.

“Pyramid Song”, the first single from Amnesiac and the band's first single in more than three years, came out on Parlophone on Monday 21 May. Amnesiac follows on 4 June, and on 9 June the band have an entire edition of Later to themselves on BBC2.
