“Pyramid Song” enters the UK chart at number five
“Pyramid Song”, the first single from Amnesiac, has gone into the UK singles chart at number five, six days after Parlophone released it on Monday 21 May (it was out in Japan on 16 May). After the first day's sales the midweek count had it at number two, one place behind “Do You Really Like It?”, the UK garage single DJ Pied Piper released the same day. Pied Piper held on to number one, and new entries from Dido and Blue slipped in above Radiohead.
The video is an animation by Shynola, the London studio behind the Kid A blips, and the band were on Top of the Pops with it in release week. The four new songs on the single were named by Thom Yorke himself, on the band's message board on 7 April. As released they are “The Amazing Sounds of Orgy” and “Trans-Atlantic Drawl” on the first CD and “Fast-Track” and “Kinetic” on the second, the titles a little longer than the ones Yorke posted.
