Radiohead mark 30 years of The Bends with a B-sides playlist

written up for the archive

Radiohead have shared a playlist of the songs, remixes and B-sides from the time of The Bends, four days after their second album turned 30 on 13 March.

The B-sides on it include “India Rubber”, “How Can You Be Sure?”, “Bishop's Robes” and “Talk Show Host”, a remix of which played in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet in 1996 as Leonardo DiCaprio's Romeo first appears.

It follows RHEUK25, a limited liability partnership registered on 10 March with all five members as officers. The band have set up such companies before past albums, tours and reissues.

The playlist is the band's second look back at 1995. Before it came unseen footage of Thom Yorke alone at the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto on 28 March 1995, a 25-minute acoustic set of “(Nice Dream)”, “High and Dry”, “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” and “Fake Plastic Trees”. He introduces himself as some bloke from some band2, and comes back to play “Thinking About You” from Pablo Honey because a fan asked for it.
